Ukrainian Women’s Association of America Hosts Benefit Concert to Aid Children Affected by Trauma and War in Ukraine

The Ukrainian Women’s Association of America (UWAA) is proud to announce its upcoming philanthropic event, the UWAA Benefit Concert, dedicated to aiding children impacted by the devastating consequences of war and violence in Ukraine. This extraordinary evening is set to take place Saturday, March 30, 2023 and will feature performances by renowned Ukrainian pop stars Zlata Ognevich and SHUMEI.

The benefit concert is scheduled for Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the Rhapsody Theater located at 1328 W. Morse Ave, Chicago, IL, 60626.

Proceeds from the concert will be directed towards UWAA’s flagship initiative: the City of Goodness in Chernivtsi, Ukraine. This sanctuary, steadfastly supported by UWAA for years, provides refuge for displaced children from war-torn regions and elderly individuals who have lost their homes.

“Women in our non-profit are passionate about uplifting Ukraine’s future – our children – and through this concert we are inviting the Chicago community to help,”said Oksana Taratula, President of UWAA. “City of Goodness heals mothers, children and elderly who have literally been through hell back. They have therapists, psychologists, medical staff and loving caretakers on site to help victims hope for a better future.”

With approximately 300 children residing in the City of Goodness, consistent professional care from caretakers, medical and mental health staff is crucial. UWAA's contributions have facilitated the construction of a third building, allowing for upwards of 500 victims to find shelter. Additionally, UWAA covered all utility costs during the harsh winter of 2023 and supported the establishment of a hospice and rehabilitation center.

The newly opened medical facility within the City of Goodness houses terminally ill children who receive care from trained medical professionals and loving caretakers. These children participate in activities with others, fostering inclusion and happiness regardless of their circumstances.

Terminally ill children who do not have any family reside at City of Goodness where they are cared for by medical professionals.

UWAA’s mission is to ensure Ukrainian children lead happy and healthy lives. Through collaboration and camaraderie among Ukrainian women, UWAA aims to preserve national identity and cultural heritage while informing the American people about Ukrainian culture and upholding ties with other Ukrainians for charitable purposes.
